Darwin - 3 day itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Darwin
Once you arrive in Darwin, head to the Darwin Waterfront. From high end restaurants to more casual cafés and bars, there’s something for everyone. Take your bathers so you can go for a swim at the wave lagoon pools located at the Waterfront Precinct.
Afterwards, make your way to Crocosaurus Cove located in the heart of Darwin on Mitchell Street. Here you’ll have the opportunity to see the largest reptile on the planet, the saltwater crocodile, and learn about a variety of fish and reptile species at the aquarium. There is a twice daily crocodile and fish feeding show and for the brave, climb into the Cage of Death for a face-to-face encounter with one of the largest saltwater crocodiles in captivity.
This afternoon, head to The Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory which is a great place to learn about Aboriginal art and see local crocodile celebrity, Sweetheart. The museum also houses a Cyclone Tracy exhibition which devastated the city on 24 December 1974.
Just up the road is Darwin’s popular Mindil Beach Sunset Market, held every Thursday and Sunday evenings between May and October. The region’s incredible multicultural mix is well represented at the market’s arts, crafts and food stalls. Select your dinner from an array of food stalls then dine on the beach watching an iconic Darwin sunset.
If the Mindil Beach Sunset Market isn’t scheduled for tonight, enjoy dinner on board a Darwin Harbour Sunset Cruise with Journey Beyond, sail away with Sail Darwin's Champagne Sunset Sail, or a enjoy Fish and Chip Sunset Cruise with Sea Darwin.
